New Beginnings: Introducing the New "Produced" Newsletter

Lessons from Liam: Pursue Your Dreams, Think Creatively

Hi Producers,

You might have noticed that I’ve rebranded the newsletter. I had a post ready and scheduled about rebranding, but it felt disorganized and I wasn’t sure how to tackle it. Last week, I recorded a podcast episode (unreleased yet) with someone who runs a business-related newsletter. Our conversation inspired me and got me thinking about my own newsletter.

So, here’s the update: I wanted to simplify things, provide more value, and benefit from it (in a good way!).

The result is the "Produced" newsletter, which aligns with the "Produced By" podcast. I also rebranded my LinkedIn newsletter to match, though they serve different purposes. The LinkedIn newsletter teases upcoming guests, shares behind-the-scenes insights from the podcast, and offers productivity tips. This one will be more straightforward, focusing on sharing lessons from the podcast.

The LinkedIn newsletter will go out on Sunday evenings to preview the upcoming week, while this one will be sent on Thursdays to remind you of Monday’s episode and offer actionable insights for your week. So, without further ado, let’s dive into some lessons from the latest episode with Liam! But first, let’s remind ourselves of who Liam is.

Life Without Limits: AI, Travel & Constant Growth | #66: Liam Lawson

Liam Lawson, the dynamic Editor in Chief at AI Tool Report, has spent the last 24+ months traveling the globe, immersing himself in diverse cultures from Nepal to Colombia. Alongside his editorial responsibilities, Liam engages deeply with sponsors and product teams to shape long-term AI strategies. His journey is fuelled by a relentless passion for learning and innovation, evident in his constant pursuit of new insights and projects.

Join us at Produced By as Liam shares his inspiring experiences and discusses his latest ventures, where he looks forward to blending his global experiences with new creative endeavours and continuing his quest for knowledge and growth.

Lessons:

  • Pursue Your Dreams

  • Think Outside the Box

  • Be Creative

Lesson 1: Pursue Your Dreams

I know this might sound cliché, but hear me out. Not many people are as brave as Liam. As you heard in our episode, Liam dreamed of travelling the world and living in various countries—and that’s exactly what he did. As a geography enthusiast, I was keen to discuss his experiences. Liam’s journey took him from Scotland to Asia and now to Austin, Texas. What an inspiring journey!

Lesson 2: Think Outside the Box

When you look for a job, you probably use conventional methods like Indeed, sending CVs, or working with recruitment agencies. No offence intended! However, Liam found his job in a unique way—he reached out to his current boss and coworker via Twitter, and they started working together. It’s a reminder that sometimes unconventional methods can lead to exciting opportunities. You never know until you try!

Lesson 3: Be Creative

When you have a creative or innovative idea, do you act on it or hold back? When it comes to creativity, I hope you take inspiration from Liam. He had some unique podcast ideas, such as recording episodes while running, in a sauna, or even on a date. Although his podcast is currently inactive (but he might revive it soon!), his approach is a great example of creativity. What other innovative podcast recording ideas can you come up with?

That’s all for today, my friends. I sincerely hope you like the rebrand and the new direction. I’d love to hear your feedback and thoughts on the changes. Any insights or suggestions for the newsletter are always welcome, and I promise to reply. Thanks a lot, and have an amazing week!

Keep producing,
Tommen
