Building a Winning LinkedIn Strategy for Career Growth

Elevate your LinkedIn game with strategies for content, connections, and more.

Hello Producers,

Consistency and ongoing improvement are key themes we often hear about, and they don’t just apply to LinkedIn. I’m bringing this up because our latest guest embodies these values perfectly. As you’ve learned from our episode, Taz has been active on LinkedIn for a long time, so he knows what works—and we can all learn from his experience.

Taz Burwais is an experienced entrepreneur and marketer, and founder of Rocket, a B2B lead generation agency. With a background in Marketing and Journalism from Newcastle University, Taz brings years of expertise working across various sectors to help businesses build a sustainable sales funnel using primarily LinkedIn.  Born and raised in Scotland, Taz made his mark in the marketing world in London before moving outside the city to start his own agency. Passionate about delivering results, he’s built a reputation for creating tailored strategies that drive growth.

In this episode, Taz shares his journey from employee to entrepreneur, offering valuable insights on how to attract clients, build lasting relationships, and standing out on LinkedIn.  Whether you're looking to grow your business or refine your marketing approach, this episode is packed with practical tips you won’t want to miss.

Lessons:

  • Find Your Platform and Go 100% In

  • Have a Strategy Behind Your Content

  • Play the Long Game and Keep Improving

  • Foster Quality Relationships

  • Make Your Work Enjoyable

Lesson 1: Find Your Platform and Go 100% In

Taz may also be active on X (formerly Twitter), but his main focus remains LinkedIn—and for good reason. As we heard, he’s developed a strong strategy, supported by well-defined systems and processes. Learning is ongoing, but if a platform fits your needs—whether for your audience, clients, or networking—it makes sense to commit fully. Sure, explore other platforms to see what resonates, but once you find your space, dive deep. Remember, everyone’s journey is different, so what works for one may not work for another.

Lesson 2: Have a Strategy Behind Your Content

We see content everywhere on LinkedIn, but many people, myself included, start without a clear strategy. If you don’t have one yet, it’s time to get clear on what you’re posting, why you’re posting it, and what you want to achieve. A strategy simplifies your process, and your audience will notice the difference. Not sure where to start? Ask for help—there are plenty of talented people on LinkedIn who are happy to lend a hand.

Lesson 3: Play the Long Game and Keep Improving

I used to treat LinkedIn as just an “online CV,” updating it a few times a year. Then I realized its potential and got serious. Taz, on the other hand, has been using LinkedIn for much longer, consistently playing the long game. He’s always learning, refining his approach, and staying committed. This is the mindset we all need—LinkedIn isn’t a shortcut, but the hard work and dedication pay off over time.

Lesson 4: Foster Quality Relationships

At its core, LinkedIn is about building authentic relationships. But how many people actually prioritize authenticity? Taz does, and I’m grateful for the connection we’ve built. He’s focused on building genuine relationships, whether they turn into clients or become lifelong connections. That’s what LinkedIn is about—creating a network of people who support and inspire you. I’ve met some amazing people on the platform who feel like friends. Let’s continue fostering meaningful connections.

Lesson 5: Make Your Work Enjoyable

We all experience moments when our work feels repetitive and uninspiring. Taz and I discussed this, and it’s something we’ve both faced. The question is: How do you keep it enjoyable so that you remain consistent and even excited? You can experiment with different types of content, regularly update your profile, engage with new people, and explore topics that genuinely interest you. Make LinkedIn fun, so it doesn’t feel like “just a task.”

If you’re on LinkedIn and looking to up your game, I hope you found this episode valuable. Taz is a prime example of what quality content and consistency can achieve, so I encourage you to follow him—or even reach out.

Now, I’d love to hear from you! Did you learn something new from this episode that you can apply to your own LinkedIn strategy? Is there something we missed that you’d like to add? Or do you have any “secret” tips for staying on top of your LinkedIn game? Let me know in the comments below!
